The Darkest Child 2

This section shows the extensive beating that Rozelle commits on her children. She beat Mary Jane so bad that she was affect by scars and brusing and even blood lost. It also shows Rozzelle mind set or personality. She gets angery over little things such as the mailman delivering the mail and Mushy working for an married man, but all after all this she forces her daughter into prostitution. Mushy left after the married man incident and wants to make Tarrabelle come live with her and Velman Cooper. You can since Tangy Mae jealousy because she sees how Mr. Cooper loves her sister. Maybe not having a father figure she just needs a mans love in general.

Does not having a father figure affect the kids as a whole or just Tangy Mae?

Mushy doesn't live with Velman. Velman is Mary Jane's man. =]

i definitely agree with the notion that Tangy is just looking for love: i don't think she really loves him, but is so consumed in this desire for him, for love. i mean, i'm sure she doesn't want to hurt Mary Jane, so she wouldn't take him away from her.

i think Sam, Harvey, and Mushy no longer care to have a father figure, since they've lived so long without one. Harvey actually knows who his dad is(Archie, the school janitor),and made attempts to get close to him. the fact that he was never there, though, has made Harvey distant. i think that even if they do long to know their fathers, it is quickly suppressed by the fact that they have not and cannot do anything for them; they haven't been there thus far--what can they do now?!
